To help us maximize your impact and keep our team safe, please use this quick guide before packing up your vehicle.

General Rule of Thumb: Items should be clean, gently used, and in safe, working condition!

Clothing & Accessories

Men’s, women’s, and children's clothes, shoes, belts, and purses.

Home Decor & Housewares

Furniture, cookware, dishes, antiques, collectibles, and holiday items.

Electronics

Flat-panel TVs, computers, tablets, gaming systems, and small appliances in working order.

Entertainment & Leisure

Books, movies (DVD/Blu-ray), music, toys, and sports equipment.

Linens & Textiles

Bedding, blankets, curtains, and towels.

Please Do Not Donate

Large Household Items

Mattresses, box springs, and large major appliances (washers, dryers, refrigerators).

Infant Safety Items

Cribs, playpens, car seats, or high chairs (due to safety recall laws).

Older Electronics

Tube-style (CRT) televisions and computer monitors.

Hazmat & Safety Hazards

Weapons, ammunition, tires, food, prescription medications, or fluorescent bulbs.

Damaged Goods

Anything broken, deeply soiled, wet, or showing signs of mold and mildew.

We appreciate your donations and want to make sure they can be used to support members of our community through our mission. Please do not drop off donations outside of our donation centers after hours. Items left outside may be stolen or damaged by the weather.

While we wish we could accept every donation, there are some items we can’t accept because they are excessively soiled, broken, or have been recalled. A good rule of thumb is to consider whether you would give your items to a friend or family member. If not, please consider other disposal methods.

IRS Tax Guidelines & Receipts

Goodwill Central East Texas is a registered 510(c)(3) nonprofit. If you itemize deductions on your federal tax return, your donations are tax-deductible!

Get a Receipt: Remember to ask the donation attendant for a tax receipt when you drop off your items.
Determining Value: By law, Goodwill cannot place a monetary value on your items for you. To assess the "fair market value" of your donation, please consult a tax advisor or review the official [IRS Determining the Value of Donated Property Guide].
